A photo record of your moles that actually holds up.

Mole Detective organises photos of your skin, finds the moles in them, and keeps each one matched up over time — so when you look at a mole today, you can see exactly what it looked like six months ago instead of trying to remember.

Photos of moles are surprisingly hard to keep

Most of us have dozens of moles, plenty of them somewhere we cannot easily see, and a camera roll where last year's photos are buried under everything else. Comparing one against another is where it all falls apart.

Out of sight

Your back and shoulders are the hardest places to photograph consistently on your own.

Nothing is labelled

An untagged photo from last spring tells you nothing about which mole is which.

Photos drift

Shots taken at different distances, angles and light are almost impossible to line up.

What Mole Detective does about it

Finds the moles in your photos

A detection model picks out every mole in a body photo, so you are not marking dozens of them by hand every time.

Matches them across sessions

The same mole is identified in this month's photo and last month's, even when the angle, distance and lighting are different.

Measures the difference

Size, colour and outline are compared between photos, and the ones that look different from last time are brought to the top of the list.

Maps your whole body

Photos from every angle are stitched into a 3D body map, so each mole has a fixed place you can return to.

A record worth having

Mole Detective does not assess your moles and offers no opinion on them. What it produces is a clear, dated photo record — the kind of thing that is genuinely useful to show a healthcare professional, because it answers the question they ask first: what did this look like before?

Dated history

Every photo of every mole, in order, with the dates attached.

Direct comparison

Any two dates side by side, with the measured difference between them.

Your photos, handled carefully

Private by default

Your images are yours. They are never published, sold, or shown to other users.

Encrypted storage

Images are stored in encrypted object storage and served only to your signed-in account.

Deletable

Delete an upload and the underlying image is removed from storage, not just hidden.

Read the privacy policy for the detail.

We are building this now — tell us what matters

Mole Detective has not launched yet, which means the roadmap is still open. The survey takes about three minutes and decides what we build next.

What this is, and what it is not

Mole Detective is a photo tracking tool. It records images and compares them — it does not examine your skin, assess anything, or tell you what any of it means. Anything to do with your health belongs with a qualified healthcare professional.
