Everything Mole Detective tracks
An honest list. Some of this works today, some of it is being built, and some of it is only planned — each item says which. If something you need is missing, tell us in the survey.
Capture
Getting a photo that is worth comparing against next time.
Whole-body photo sets Working now
Work through a guided set of angles - front, back, each side, arms and legs - so nothing is left unphotographed.
Close-ups of a single mole Working now
Attach detailed shots to any tracked mole, for the ones you want to watch more carefully than a body photo allows.
Guided repeat capture In build
An on-screen overlay of your last photo, so you can line up the same shot at the same distance and angle each time.
Reminders In build
A nudge when a body area is due to be re-photographed, on whatever schedule you choose.
Detection and tracking
Turning photos into a list of moles that persists between sessions.
Automatic mole detection Working now
A detection model finds the moles in each photo and draws a boundary around every one, without you tapping them out by hand.
Matching across sessions Working now
The same mole is identified in photos taken months apart, correcting for the change in angle, distance and pose between them.
Manual corrections Working now
Add a mole the detector missed, remove one it invented, or link two photos it failed to match - your corrections stick.
3D body map In build
Your photos are assembled into a body model with every mole placed on it, so each one has a permanent address rather than a position in one photo.
Comparison over time
The part that actually matters: which photos look different from the last set.
Size, colour and shape comparison Working now
Each tracked mole is measured against its own earlier photos, and the percentage difference in size, colour and outline is recorded.
Side-by-side history Working now
Put any two sessions next to each other and step through the moles that differ between them.
New moles listed separately Working now
Moles that appear in a photo for the first time are listed apart from ones that were already being tracked.
Records and storage
What happens to your photo history once it exists, and where it lives.
Printable photo history Planned
A one-page export of a single mole photo history and its measured differences, in a form you can hand over at an appointment.
Family profiles Planned
Track moles for a partner, a child or a parent from one account, kept separate from your own.
On-device photo storage Planned
Keep your photo library on your own phone rather than in your account. Detection still runs on our servers, so an image is uploaded to be processed and then discarded rather than stored.
Which of these would you actually use?
Nothing here is fixed. The survey asks you to rate every one of these features, and that ranking is what decides the order we build them in.
What this is, and what it is not
Every feature here works on photographs. Comparison tells you that two images of a mole differ and by how much — it is a measurement of pictures, not an assessment of your skin. Mole Detective offers no opinion on what any of it means; that is for a qualified healthcare professional.
